But, what do you expect with a 1/3 HP motor? If you want a quiet kitchen on a budget, then try this unit. The main comment is the lack of power, which seems to lead on to the slowness to drain. The install can be troublesome, but that goes for every unit and not just this one. Some similar complaints to those described above, but again, really not that many which is slightly surprising. Moving on to the Bad (OK, not so bad – a summary of 3 star feedback): When playing with water, this is what you want in order to avoid leaks for the longest time possible. My view is that the longer the warranty, the more likely the manufacturer will have used improved materials, seals, gaskets, and the like. You just don’t want the hassle of having to replace the unit shortly after you’ve installed it, particularly if you’ve had to pay a plumber as well. ![]() I would still suggest that you opt for the longest warranty that you can afford above everything else. The large majority of users find the Waste King L-111 unit perfectly adequate. Let’s start with the Good (a summary of the 5 star feedback): Let’s take a look at user feedback so far … The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly from User Feedback This is a nice user image of the Waste King L-111 in use – it gives a good view of just how slimline the unit is, how much space it leaves around the housing, as well as it’s connection to a dishwasher and the integrated power cord … Waste King L-111 in use – courtesy of Amazon Do the job once, do it right, and save the hassle of having to re-do it again in a few years. This should hopefully give you slightly greater longevity. Personally, if space were my issue, I would spend the extra $5 or so and get the stronger 0.5 HP motor of the L-1001, which also gets you stainless grinding gear compared to the galvanized grinders of the L-111. Having said all that, if you are short on space beneath your kitchen sink, then this unit as well as the ‘more-powerful-but-in-the-same-body’ Waste King L-1001 should be on your shopping list to check out. ![]() If you get beyond that, then this unit turns into an absolute bargain! As I’ve mentioned in other reviews, with anything that is in contact with water and exposed to air for extended periods of time, you will inevitably encounter corrosion.Īlthough the unit comes with the Waste King EZ-Mount System, with this price point and the short warranty, you have to expect a useful life of 2 to 5 years. What concerns me personally, with this unit, is the low-cost (hovering around $70) and the short warranty (2 years). The Waste King L-111 is an extremely svelte, low-powered garbage disposer with a surprisingly large fan base!
